Visitors/volunteers

All visitors/volunteers must complete and sign the
JFJ Ministries Visitor Volunteer Agreement.

Due to security and liability reasons, all visitor volunteers are limited to a 2-visit per year maximum. Those who wish to volunteer beyond the visitor limit are required to complete a Local Level Training Course, including completion of the proper paperwork.

The Local Level Training is not difficult, and it does provide helpful information for those who wish to become more involved in this ministry. To find out when the next LLT class will be, please contact us. Pastoral staff volunteering to lead monthly worship services are allowed to lead up to 5 services annually before the Local Level Training is mandatory.

Some Guidelines when visiting a facility

Do be courteous to the facility staff.

Don’t comment or reply negatively to anything a facility staff may do or say (instead, notify JFJ Program Coordinator).

Do keep to the event times and guidelines.

Don’t try to make modifications or additions to the planned event.

Do be warm, friendly and genuine.

Don’t have physical contact unless the JFJ ‘attending’ indicates it is allowed at this facility. If contact is approved a warm arm around the shoulder ‘side hug’ is perfect and less likely to be
misinterpreted.

Do start conversations with youth (during appropriate event times) and share your testimony,
the Gospel or anything they might be able to relate to which glorifies God.

Don’t ask potentially incriminating questions (such as why they were incarcerated), or questions a licensed counselor may ask.

Do allow youth to ask you questions.

Don’t provide or ask for personal information, such as: last name, phone number, home address.

Do work with or help youth on activities or tasks which are part of the planned event.

Don’t accept any items from youth. Don’t bring in or provide them with any items other than those pre-approved through the planned event. (Please note that cell phones and cameras are
expressly forbidden.)

Do dress appropriately. Remember, you’re a representative of JFJ Ministries and more
importantly a representative of Christ Jesus

Don’t wear open-toed shoes. Bare shoulders/bellies are inappropriate; it's best to err on the side of conservative.
